Kefalonia, is the largest of the Ionian Islands in western Greece. It is also a separate regional unit of the Ionian Islands region, and the only municipality of the regional unit. The capital of Kefalonia is Argostoli.

Argostoli is the capital of Kefalonia and its main port. You can see a monument obelisk next to the causeway here. This obelisk used to have the inscription, ‘To the glory of the British Empire‘ inscribed on it. This disappeared in 1865, when the Greeks regained control of their island.
