Volleyball is a team sport in which two teams of six players are separated by a net. Each team tries to score points by grounding a ball on the other team’s court under organized rules. Volleyball at the Summer Olympics has been contested as an indoor sport ever since volleyball was introduced at the 1964 Summer Olympics.
Volleyball at the 2004 Summer Olympics consisted of Indoor volleyball held at the Peace and Friendship Stadium and Beach volleyball held at the Faliro Olympic Beach Volleyball Centre, in the southern portion of the Roth Pavilion; both were located at the Faliro Coastal Zone Olympic Complex.
